Free WP Theme: Santa 2013

screenshot I have made a free Christmas inspired WordPress theme of Santa that is free for anyone to use. The design is rather simple (as I have not designed with WordPress for a long time), but I still wanted to share this. If you notice any problems, please let me know (preferably via email – kya@love.com). I hope that anyone that does use it will enjoy it. *hug*

You can see a live preview of the theme or download it and use on your website? :B

I plan to make some more free themes, maybe even another christmassy style one as well. It was fun to make this. It was much like making an interactive illustration in a way, that people could use in a cool way. :D

My christmas designs, printed :D

My Christmas designs arrived and I am really happy with the result. I decided on the four final designs from all of your help, and what I liked too. Plus, I decided to have a notepad and stickers made. Even though the notepad is not really ‘Christmas related‘ it has to make an appearance. I don’t intend to sell them, just to share cards with friends/family and maybe include some stickers and a note with them. :D If you are interested in exchanging cards, let me know.

It might be a bit hard to tell, but the cards are also glossy and feel nice to touch.

Yay, giraffe Santa!

All the stars! :D

This photo kind of went a bit noodley and made the quality look eh. It looks better in ‘real life’. xD

Your friendly Christmas tree.

A fun little notepad I designed. I made the contrast of the design lighter, so you could see what you are writing haha. I also realised it’s a bit crooked. But, cute giraffe!

Loveable star stickers. I really love this and think they are my favourite thing (I do have a sticker collecting problem).

I am happy with how all of the designs turned out and can’t wait to post them off. I had all of my cards/designs printed with Vistaprint, price was good and they shipped really really fast! Might be a cool option for anyone in Australia looking to have designs printed. The only bummer is, when you upload a design, you can’t see a quality preview, they make you pay for that. But if you upload high quality files (for my designs I usually use the .ai, illustrator file) there is no problem.

Hello November!

Wow, November is already here. That means Christmas is almost here and I need to think about what design to make for holiday inspired cards. I think I might create two designs. One cute and the other a little bit simple/indie/hipster/pretty/girly (is that a thing?). I also must have these printed not the week before Christmas….

Another cool thing happened. The photograph I entered into the competition on deviantART was selected as one of the semi-finalists! I am really chuffed that I did make the semi-finalist list. I don’t think I will place in the top three, but that doesn’t matter because being a semi-finalist is a big honour to me. It was also one of the few times I have tried to enter a creative competition, maybe I should look for more photography competitions either local or Australian wide?

If you like to write, November also means something a little special. National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). Write 50,000 words in one month and have yourself a novel! I have been trying at this for years and have never reached the 50,000 word mark, but it has been good (and sometimes frustrating) as a creative challenge. If you are also taking part you can follow my profile kyabean.

Lastly, my friend Claire created a blog. ALL THE STALKS? ;D

Yays

My secret project has a name, and a somewhat visual face now. I (partly) introduce you to Blog Matter which will be launching in December 2013. I am still being more secret and not dishing the details on what it is about completely. I can say it is part community for bloggers and part something else for bloggers as well. Follow on twitter for updates? :D

A weird/cool thing happened a few days ago. I was checking my emails and noticed a large number of favourites on my Flickr photo Bushfire Smoke. At first I thought that is really weird, then noticed one of the favourites was from Yahoo Editorial and I had to check the Flickr blog because I thought, maybe I have been featured on there and I was! My photo was included in a post called October wildfires in Australia, along with other bushfire related images. (Photo is also included as the featured image). :D

I also entered a photography/design competition via deviantART which I am hoping to hear more news on soon. I highly doubt I would be in the final three, but I am hopeful I might at least make the final 22. *fingers crossed*.
