My First Car

On Tuesday the 5th of July I picked up my very first car. It is a 2016 Suzuki Swift and I think she is adorable.

I am really excited to have a car of my own and have always admired the design of the Suzuki Swifts. They are only a small car (or hatch) and it really suits me, to build more confidence with driving. I decided I wanted a car that was an automatic, so that I had ‘less to think about’ and could have full concentration on the road and what was around me (instead of a manual and changing gears). I am a learner driver, so I do have to have a licensed driver with me, but I am really glad, because I don’t feel 100% comfortable yet.

I didn’t expect that I would have a car this year, but I am really glad that it did happen. I will be able to slowly gain more confidence and be able to take the driving test to get my provision license and drive on my own.  ;D I couldn’t afford to buy the car outright, so I will be paying it off for the next 5 years. Which is fine, as long as I don’t have any spending sprees!  ~u~

It also means, that I can tick another item off my 30 Before 30, because I am already driving more!

There is one big problem. My car has no name. What do you think I should call her?  :cookie:

 QUESTIONS

  1. What should I call my car?
  2. Do you drive?
  3. What kind of car do you have?

  • I do not drive and will never drive. I’m too frightened from the car accident. But your car is cute. You should name her “little sister” .

  • So cute! I’m so happy for you and your new car :D

I don’t drive. I have terrible depth perception, so I don’t trust myself out on the road. Just, nope!

I say you should call your car Mochi LOL The white colour reminds me of that XD

  • I’m so happy for you Kya and proud of what you’ve achieved in the 30 before 30 list.

The car is adorable, I love the bow!! <3 I hope it helps you become much more confident in driving. I love all the little cute plushies(?) inside, they really scream you :P

I am so bad with naming things in general but I like Tara's idea – Mochi really suits it!

I'm excited to start driving lessons myself in August, a little nervous but confident that once I learn it I'm going to be thankful because public transport sucks!

I don’t drive and I don’t think I’d want to especially how people are always getting in accidents on the road. Its dangerous out there and I prefer being safe not wounded in the hospital.

I love the car pics even the cute bow. :)
The car name uh i don’t know I guess whatever you wanna call it.

  • I envy people who drive. I took driving lesson last year but I think that lesson was useless because 1). i’m 20 now and i’m still not allowed to drive and my parents have tons of ridiculous comments to argue against me driving and 2). i don’t have my own car :’D

regardless, congrats on having a car! white cars are really sleek and pretty, aren’t they ;)

i don’t have a recommendation for a car name but since i’m weird, i feel like if i have a white car, the first name that pops into my mind is Baymax, LOL. so not creative, eh.

Do i drive? well, I did learn…as mentioned previously. but i don’t really do it beyond the lesson so it’s pretty useless. i mean, i know how to brake and stuff but the fear of driving along the real, actual road with traffics and whatnot…I haven’t experienced that since i’m not allowed to….yet. it’s frustrating ~n~

i don’t have a car at the moment (it’s only a family car, which is a toyota innova) but i really like the mazda2 for a personal, small-sized car. everyone seems to like the honda jazz for a small, personal car but i find them overrated it’s boring? Lol. i like the green mazda2 though since the color reminds me of a frog :))

  • Congrats on your first car! It is an awesome thing. I’m still driving my first car that is a 2003. It has treated me well and it is great to not have a car payment. LOL I’ve never named my car before though.

  • Oh cute car! I’m not a car person so know nada about em, but it is cute!

Hmmm name…I’m not sure. It needs to be cute though I think.

  • Very cute! And congratulations that you can get a new car! I used to have an old second hand small car that I drove around. I adored the freedom of having a car. It was so nice to just jump in and drive anywhere, rather than having to rely on others or public transit. Enjoy!!

  • I love your car! It’s so pretty and shinny (hehe nVn ) I would probably name it something that means white in a different language or something like that.

I got my learner’s when I was 15 and I got my license when I was 18 so I’ve been driving for a bit.

I driving a 2011 Nissan Versa hatchback in the color gray. She is my pride and joy. I got her for my graduation present and I decided to name her Cameo (but more often than not I just call her Versa ) because I knew she would be sort of a backdrop for some of the amazing things that would happen in my young adult life. I learned how to drive with her and I honestly couldn’t imagine driving anything else.

Your car is so beautiful! I wish I could have a fancy new car, but the fact I haven’t driven my old one in two years is probably a reason not to spend loads of money on one. I have a Renault Clio and the first time I drove it alone (after passing my test) I grazed another car slightly, because he was reversing in traffic. I got shouted at by the driver of the other car and his wife. That really put me off driving, so it’s been the bus for me ever since. I still have my car though haha.

Definitely needs a cool name, but I can’t think of a name good enough!

    Congrats on achieving your goal!
    xxx

  • That is a really cute car, and congrats on achieving your goal. Not trying to be mean or anything, but it is weird to see people talk about driving when they are around my age as something new. I have been driving since I was 16. I guess living in the USA gives us that advantage. I don’t know what name you should give the vehicle since I never thought about naming a vehicle, but again congrats on achieving your goal. That is a big thing altogether.

  • Jae

How about call her Snow? Hahaha! IDK, it’s the first thing that popped in my head! Yes, I do drive. I used to drive a stick back in Manila. My husband got me an SUV last year; perfect for long drives since we love going on cross-country trips. :D

  • Congratulations on your first car, Kya! Your new car looks cute. Automatic cars are good, especially since you don’t need to constantly shift between gears. Meanwhile, I’ve been wanting to drive a manual sports car X’D. Within time and experience, you’ll be pro at driving ;). There’s nothing wrong with financing a car.

I have to drive to get around in SoCal. Taking public transportation takes forever @___@. I currently drive an Acura RL. However, I’m in the market for a new car! :)

  • Congrats on your new car! I envy you that your first car is a brand-new spankin’ shiny Suzuki Swift LOL. nVn

I got my license after I graduated from high school (and I wasn’t 18 yet at that time), but I didn’t start driving until I was 19 (2nd year college/university). My first car was a hand-me-down 1986 Dodge Reliant from my mom when she got a new car herself. Unfortunately, I lost that car due to a… *gasp* car accident LOL. It was because of that accident that I start to cringe at other drivers who talk and text on their cellphones (and I’m glad there’s a law that made talking and texting on cellphones during driving illegal now LOL). I got rear-ended from behind by some idiot driver on a RED LIGHT because he was chatting away on the cellphone and not paying attention to the road around him.

I now drive a 2002 Toyota Corolla S, which is also the first-ever car I purchased w/ my own money. Still runs smooth, even though it looks pretty old compared to everyone else’s fancy shiny cars as of late. I want a Tesla, but having one will only exist in my dreams LOL.

My advice to everyone who fears driving because of those car accidents: when you earn your driver’s license, it’s a privilege, not a right. Second, you need to be defensive and have full attention to your surroundings while you’re out there driving. It’s the only way for you to stay safe from car accidents. And of course, don’t do anything stupid while you’re driving, such as talking/texting on your cellphone . :/

I’m never really good at names, especially with cars (though I named my computers, my Kindle, my smartphone even LOL). n’D

  • Ooo how exciting! I’m hoping to buy a car this year as soon as I’ve passed my test. I’m currently learning in an automatic Suzuki. It’s possibly the Swift but I’m rubbish with car brands haha!

  • Congratulations on your new car! This has always been one of my goals as well, to be able to buy my own car. But I can’t see it in the near future yet. Still have to save up. Goodluck with driving, it should be fun. :)

  • Cat

Congrats on your new car! It looks awesome, and the bow is so cute :) My first car’s color was actually white too! Though it was a Honda Accord. I also drive automatic, though sometimes I wish I learned manual just so I know it. Automatic is definitely easier though, haha.

I’ve never named my car before, but the white color and the cupcake plush makes me think of buttercream frosting :) My current car is an Acura TL!

  • How do you find the magnetic L plates. I remember buying them and about 2 seconds later the front one flew off :P

I’m only a learner too. I had my licence way back when but never really enjoyed driving. I bought a car that was an auto and just hated it. I don’t know why I just much prefer manual cars. Hopefully within 12 months I’ll be able to get my Ps or full licence.

I love your car! Swifts are so cute and small, they seem like a great learners car!

We have an old Mazda Astina which we generally only drive on weekends or for late night icecream runs :D

  • Yay new car! This is so exciting.

What should I call my car?
Hmmm this is tough, Lola is the first thing that comes to me, or Leia (as I’m watching Star Wars right now. Or even Ray for that matter, for the same Star Wars connection XD

    Do you drive?
No, I really need to start learning. But, it’s difficult when I don’t know if I’ll be moving soon or if it will be somewhere where I can have a car.

  • Sue

Nice to meet you Kya! I came across your blog through Pauline’s blog, then I proceeded to your about page and viewed all your websites ^_^ You make really cute graphics. I’m impressed by what a huge internet presence you have.

That’s exciting that you got a car of your own. Here’s to doing well on the driving test! I like the name Snow White or just Snow for your car as someone commented. I’ve been driving many years, but I think it’s the culture I grew up in, that kids learn to drive at 16 and learn about driving in school.

  • Hooray for your car! :D

I would suggest the name Shiro, because it is white and I lack creativity. =D

I do and don’t drive, and I don’t own a car. I got my license last year, which will be an year now on August and that means I will be able to get a full license instead of the in-training one. I say I do and I don’t because I did drive to get the license, but I am terrified of driving. So unless I really need to, I will just have the license as a pretty document. I never wanted to get a license, but my dad insisted on me having it, so I went with it. Someday though, I plan to overcome my fear and get a car, as in a future I want to have kids and having kids without a car would be quite troublesome. :(

  • That’s a lovely car and I do like their logo; it looks professionally sexy  I’ve only seen a few Suzuki models driving around town. There aren’t many, but I bet it’ll become popular sooner or later.

I didn’t start driving until I received my driver’s license when I was 18 years old. My first car was a 2002 Dodge Neon and I crashed it 3 years ago. Currently I’m driving a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse. I want to get rid of it though and buy a new one. It has too many blind spots that it’s difficult to back up.

  • Congratulations on your first car Kya :) It is a milestone for everyone. I like that you got a new car to learn in because I got a new one too, but people were giving me shit for buying a ‘brand new’ car. *eye glare* I didn’t have a car to learn in and mine was affordable!

Nick’s sister has the same with Suzuki Swift, she was going to get the blue one but when she saw the white one she changed her mind. It is a very cute car and I was close to getting the red model but I wasn’t a fan of how small it was. A little too small for my liking.

Instead I got the red Mazda 3 (2014 edition) because I felt it suited my ‘badass’ side (hahaha) and I liked it more. It was a bit tough getting used to because it was so big. But we all get used to the cars we drive in anyway.

Because I got a custom LZRGUN plate I just call my car The Lasergun but I am not sure if it’s a he or she. Feels more like a she. :P

I don’t know what to name yours because it depends on what kind of name you want! If it were mine I would call it Sencha (after the green tea) because it is a nice light tea, and it’s a nice cute car. ?

  • It IS adorable!!!

I drive a Chevy Cobalt. I love having a car, but I’m still a very timid driver and I still avoid the highway. They are insane here in Houston so I still haven’t been able to drive on it. I go the long way for things. Luckily, I live in the inner loop and everything is witin reach for me, and I don’t mind the scenic route.

    Congrats on the new car!!!

  • Wow! Congratulations Kya on your first car! I hope you get to explore cool places with it.

    I don’t know how to drive. Well, I don’t have a car.
I”m thinking the name, “Turbo”? But it’s too manly.

  • Yay! Congrats! Seems like you got a really nice car too :D Cute that it even had a bow!
I drive a Volvo V70 and like it very much. I call it Drogon because it’s big and black and makes a lot of noise, haha!
Have you come up with a name for your car yet? :)

  • I’ve had a few lessons, but I’m not super into driving. I prefer transit. Your car is adorbs though, and I think making it your own would be fun! :D

  • Liv

Waiiiit did you put that gigantic bow on your car? That is so cute!!! It suits her HAHA. Congratulations on getting a car! :) Good luck on finding a name too! When I was on my trip to Mexico every car I was in was a manual one :O it was my first time seeing one! I think automatic cars are far more comfortable too!

  • Haha – I am so behind on commenting, but your new car is very adorable! I’m going to be preparing to get my driver’s license in the coming weeks…nervous doesn’t even begin to describe it. :’| I agree with Tara – Mochi really fits. May I also suggest Yuki? Best of luck with your driving. <3

  • fai
