TAG: Competitions

My secret project has a name, and a somewhat visual face now. I (partly) introduce you to Blog Matter which will be launching in December 2013. I am still being more secret and not dishing the details on what it is about completely. I can say it is part community for bloggers and part something else for bloggers as well. Follow on twitter for updates? :D

A weird/cool thing happened a few days ago. I was checking my emails and noticed a large number of favourites on my Flickr photo Bushfire Smoke. At first I thought that is really weird, then noticed one of the favourites was from Yahoo Editorial and I had to check the Flickr blog because I thought, maybe I have been featured on there and I was! My photo was included in a post called October wildfires in Australia, along with other bushfire related images. (Photo is also included as the featured image). :D

I also entered a photography/design competition via deviantART which I am hoping to hear more news on soon. I highly doubt I would be in the final three, but I am hopeful I might at least make the final 22. *fingers crossed*.

Nominate a friend to win a domain!

Bubble is currently running a competition where you can nominate a friend to win a free domain (and the winner chooses a friend to also win a domain). All you have to do is head over to the competitions page and enter the name and website of the person you would like to nominate (you can nominate up to three people – but you can not nominate yourself). Please do not nominate me as I can’t win in my own competition haha.

I also made a batch of 55 new icons, yay!

And the winners are …

The winners for the Free Domain and hosting competition have been decided, and there are four! Hannah, Branika, Dizzy and Amanda I hope you all enjoy your new domains. It was a plesaure to recieve everyones application, and please believe me when I say this was very hard! I literally felt bad sending out the ‘rejections’. I wish I could have given a bundle a way, but it does add up.

I will no doubt run another similiar competition in December for some Christmas cheer, everything going well. :) So if you didn’t win this time, you may have a better shot next time!

Scattered like memories from the past

Firstly, it is the 1st of October, so we all know what that means!? The domain competition is officially closed. I shall be looking over all the applications and deciding on three lucky winners in the next few days. I know I have received many wonderful applications so it’s going to be hard to pick!

My Dad has been okay. He has to go to Sydney tomorrow for a meeting with a specialist on Friday to give him more information and find out when they will do the operation. He does have bowel cancer, but the part we can be thankful for is that it is only in the one place and has not spread! It sounds strange for my brain to register to be thankful for that, but if it had spread I think I would be a total mess!

I have been reading so much this week, I just can’t stop. I read Breaking Dawn, Chatroom and My Darling, My Hamburger. My favourite from the three was actually Braking Dawn. Chatroom and My Darling, My Hamburger were, to be perfectly honest, boring. I plan on doing some more book shopping either tonight or in the morning, because Seek Books has a PayPal special of free shipping within in Australia, can’t pass that up!

Spiritually things have been moving forward quite well! I have a new contact and spiritual aid who has been such a great support and help. I know if this was something I was doing on my own it would be a lot harder and I am forever grateful for their time and patience they have given me.

Scratching at the window

Spiritually things have been going okay. Sometimes it’s hard to cling onto the idea of something when you are not getting first hand knowledge of it, but I know that if I continue on the path to believing that it will indeed happen. I have never been in a position such as the one I am in now, and it has only been nine days, when it feels like months have passed, just very quickly! I am still very excited about it, and will be talking to someone who will give me great guidance in a few days. I am really looking forward to this. I did not mean for that to sound that I don’t believe what I am doing, I am just making sure I am cautious at the same time as letting myself free of logic that can sometimes block a spiritual connection. You have to learn to juggle both in a way.

Family life is a little stressed at the moment. My father is sick, he had tests today and they found a ‘growth’. I am hoping it’s not cancer, and I am scared because his father had bowel cancer. But I can only wait and see and hope for the best. He will be home for two weeks starting tomorrow so I shall make sure to take care of him!

Also, just a reminded for those interested there is a few days left in the free domain competition, so if you haven’t already applied now is the perfect time to do so! I am looking forward to picking the winners, and I may also through in a few extra suprises, but I can’t say anything until the comptetition is drawn. ;)

Yawning Glory

I have decided to extend the free domain competition from the 15th of September 2008 till the 1st of October 2008. Because of all the trouble with the website I wasn’t able to put the time into telling more people about it, and I want many people to hear about it and have a chance, because I know it can be a fun and glorious thing to own a new domain. (If you want to apply head to this page for more! :D )

I am getting personal/business cards printed from Moo. Mostly to give to random offline people, as it will have my name, email, mobile (cell) and portfolio website. I love Moo (because it’s Mooo) and because of the bright colours you can choose. Blue is my first choice, but I might have some pink, green and something else. :D The design won’t be over the top, I want something simple, cute and groovay.

Tess now owns Malfoy.nu, but I have yet to sell Jacob-black.net I may just put it on the Namecheap market place. I was also even considering selling crucio.nu, it just seems wrong to me to have my writing domain named after the creation of someone else. I need my own thing, and I might keep my portfolio as my writing hub, that way I am making sure it’s not just random crap (even if it might be anyway) ;) .

I shall return comments hopefully later today. Thanks to everyone that leaves a little note. :D

Happy Fathers Day, Daddy!

Happy Fathers Day to my Daddy and my Poppy. I will be going to have dinner with my grandparents today to celebrate so that will be very nice. I wasn’t able to buy anything myself for Dad or Poppy but I have promised to make up for it later.

What are the comments doing now? Still being psychotic, but I may have tracked down something to fix them. One can only hope this nightmare will be over soon. It’s not a major thing, but just one of those small irritations that keep snapping away at your heels, while other people probably thinking you are imagining the whole thing …

I have been working on my portfolio, it has taken me quite some time to create a layout I am confortable with and one that reflects what I am about, and what I do. Something simple and easy to navigate, while being creative and free at the same time. I need to revamp much of the content and write write write more short stories and poems to fill it’s empty tummy. I also told a friend I would give her a preview of the childrens book I am putting together for her, so I shall also do that. But only a teaser, I want it to be a suprise. :)

Also, don’t forget you can win a free domain. ;)

Win A (Three) Free Domain!

YES, I am doing that again. The giving away a free domain and hosting but this time I am giving away three domains to three people, because I am crazy and honestly sometimes it’s so hard to only give ONE away, when you find so many deserving people. You can find out more about it here.

I have no idea what the comments are doing, but I shall just ride it out and see what happens. If I do see more blank ones I may just smack their bottoms, hashly.

I finally have some money again, but I must save. SAVE SAVE SAVE. Such a nasty, vile word. I have images of books arriving in the mail, cute little toys and random badgemakers. *cough* I must be strong, I know I can do it …. A few books wouldn’t hurt though … hehe.
