I love macarons. They are so beautiful, so tasty and just awesome in general.
I recently brought a number of cute little items I had to share. They are kind of simple, but make me smile. This entry is very image heavy.
There was once a girl who had a problem with stationary. Especially from a delightful store named Typo. There were just so many items that she adored that sometimes she would accidentally splurge and buy some pretty things. Yes, that girl was me.
Lots of pretty images ahead!
Happy Australia Day from a Kangaroo friend
Happy Australia day to all Australians out there from me and my Kangaroo friend.
You may ask, why is there a Kangaroo in my yard eating bread? Well the story is that dad was feeding birds outside, and the Kangaroo kept looking at the bread. So dad threw him some and he loved it. That was a few days ago, and he would have a little bit each morning. But today was different. Dad gave him the little bit of bread, but the Kangaroo wanted a lot more. I went outside to look at him and he kept getting closer and closer. He then jumped away (and I felt slightly less nervous) but the next minute he comes around the corner on the veranda (so I ran inside). He has stayed around the house all day, keeps looking for us and comes closer when he hears my mums voice. We gave him some more bread, thinking that maybe he would have that and go away, it didn’t work. I don’t really want to give him anymore, because I want him to wonder off and eat, you know, Kangaroo food like grass. We nicknamed him Norman, but then that name somehow became Denis.

Thank you so very much for the opinions on my previous post, on which Christmas illustrations you liked best. I ordered four different designs, plus a sticker sheet and a notepad. I am excited to see them all when they arrive (I’ll make a post about that with pictures). I don’t have plans to sell them, just to give out. So if you are interested in exchanging cards with me, please contact me.
I didn’t end up winning a place in the top three in the competition I entered, but that is fine. I am truly happy that I was a semi-finalist.
Wow, November is already here. That means Christmas is almost here and I need to think about what design to make for holiday inspired cards. I think I might create two designs. One cute and the other a little bit simple/indie/hipster/pretty/girly (is that a thing?). I also must have these printed not the week before Christmas….
Another cool thing happened. The photograph I entered into the competition on deviantART was selected as one of the semi-finalists! I am really chuffed that I did make the semi-finalist list. I don’t think I will place in the top three, but that doesn’t matter because being a semi-finalist is a big honour to me. It was also one of the few times I have tried to enter a creative competition, maybe I should look for more photography competitions either local or Australian wide?
If you like to write, November also means something a little special. National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). Write 50,000 words in one month and have yourself a novel! I have been trying at this for years and have never reached the 50,000 word mark, but it has been good (and sometimes frustrating) as a creative challenge. If you are also taking part you can follow my profile kyabean.
My secret project has a name, and a somewhat visual face now. I (partly) introduce you to Blog Matter which will be launching in December 2013. I am still being more secret and not dishing the details on what it is about completely. I can say it is part community for bloggers and part something else for bloggers as well. Follow on twitter for updates?
A weird/cool thing happened a few days ago. I was checking my emails and noticed a large number of favourites on my Flickr photo Bushfire Smoke. At first I thought that is really weird, then noticed one of the favourites was from Yahoo Editorial and I had to check the Flickr blog because I thought, maybe I have been featured on there and I was! My photo was included in a post called October wildfires in Australia, along with other bushfire related images. (Photo is also included as the featured image).
I also entered a photography/design competition via deviantART which I am hoping to hear more news on soon. I highly doubt I would be in the final three, but I am hopeful I might at least make the final 22. *fingers crossed*.
For this Five on Friday I want to talk about five habits that I have that are predominant in my life at the moment.
- Smoking. Not a very good habit and one that I want to change.
- Getting distracted. I may start with the best intentions of doing something but I get very easily distracted. Focus, focus, focus!
- Sleeping. I love to sleep. I dream so many weird and usual things. Although it may be nice, it doesn’t help to accomplish tasks and is not healthy (to sleep a really loooong time).
- Journal writing & daily photography. This is a new habit and one that I am glad I am sticking too. I have been keeping a daily journal (old school writing with a pen) and making sure to take photographs everyday and uploading them to my 365 project profile and on flickr. I don’t always have the best photographs to share at the moment because some days I run out of time (see habit number 2 and 3, also trying to finish designs).
- Communication. One bad habit I have is that I am not always good at either communicating with people or keeping in constant communication. It’s not something that I mean to do, and it really annoys me that I loose track of time and suddenly it has been a month since I called a friend or emailed them. Must not let time sleep so easily away.
I also missed blogging yesterday, so I will try and make next weeks post on Geek Thursday an interesting one. *fingers crossed*
I have been terrible at updating my blog and I really miss spending at least a few minutes each week (or month) posting something. I will try and change that. :0 So, I have decided to recap, there has been a number of things going on since I last blogged with substantial content, so hold on tight for the catch up!
I have been wanting pink hair for a while now and I finally have it! It is a tad darker then what I want in the photo below because apparently it does wash out quickly, and I have found that out as it’s a lot lighter now. My hair is also short now, I had been growing it for years, and decided for a change and I am happy with it now, instead of annoyed and confused on what to do with it.
A major thank you to everyone that requested a theme to be made to help Japan. We raised $135 which is so awesome, and I know it will be helpful in many ways. I am sorry to those that I am still in the process of creating, eh, I am dooooooooomed.
Digital SLR Camera
*bursts* I had been wanting a good camera for years, and I finally found one that I wanted that wasn’t too expensive and I could let loose on a world of new opportunities. I purchased a Canon EOS 500D and I LOVE IT. At first I was getting carried away with how important I thought it was about the technology when the reality is, having an SLR helps, but you still have to be able to capture emotional connections to your subjects. I am learning, developing and hopefully improving as time moves on!

Nanna Gone A Year
On may the 5th my grandmother (Nanna) had been gone one year. That was a very emotional time and I still am struggling with her not being in my life. I still feel like she is still here, that she is just off somewhere and is going to come home soon. I really love my grandmother a great deal, she was such a quirky individual who wasn’t afraid to be herself and had a will or iron. I am like her in a lot of ways. I really miss her. ::(
- Bubble was placed on Hiatus and is returning on 1st August 2011
- Still studying at Uni
- Still looking after my grandfather (he hasn’t been very well for a while, so it has been a struggle trying to juggle everything in life)
- I AM GOING TO SYDNEY FOR A WEEK TO SEE KRISSY, CLAIRE AND GEORGINA. Unless they realize that I am really just a weirdo and don’t want too. There will be more on this later. ;D
I made an update to my Flickr account, I hadn’t added images to it for a while. Mainly because I hadn’t been taking a lot of photos, or ones I wanted to share. I found some new inspiration to browse and snap with my Mum’s new camera. 8)
